“Dear Frank...” A New Book written by Frank Thomas

Spend wisely with Frank's help and advice. Frank Thomas is the world’s leading expert on golf equipment. As a design engineer at Shakespeare Sporting Goods in the 1960s and ‘70s, he invented the graphite shaft, a piece of technology found in the bag of nearly every golfer today. As Technical Director of the United States Golf Association, he issued thousands upon thousands of rulings on equipment, literally writing the rules that govern the implements of the game.
Following on the success of “Just Hit It,” Thomas’s new book “Dear Frank…” is an enjoyable, informative collection of 100 question and answers about golf equipment, compiled from Thomas’s popular on-line column, which receives tens of thousands of visits from regular golfers every week.
Do regular golfers really play with the same clubs as the pros? Do knockoffs work as well as the more expensive brand names? What’s the truth about titanium and distance? Can a driver lose its pop over time? Are blades or cavity-backed irons longer? Does cold weather affect golf clubs? Does plumb-bobbing really work? Are expensive and custom-tweaked shafts worth the money? Can you clean golf balls in the dishwasher? The answers to these and more are here, in clear and concise language that takes complex technical subjects and makes them understandable to everyone.
“Dear Frank…” delivers honest evaluations in an informal, friendly, practical manner, cutting through the hype of golf equipment marketing. Thomas educates and entertains, delivering his customary sterling advice to golfers in need. He knows what works and what doesn’t, what’s worth buying and what’s not worth worrying about. He also knows how you can get the technology you need at a price you’re willing to pay – advice that will save the reader far more than the cost of the book itself.
          “Dear Frank…” is available online at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, edwinwattsgolf.com and FranklyGolf.com for $22.95

The Turf Chopper, “The Next Generation Of Golf Carts”

The Turf Chopper is a new three wheeled single rider electric golf cart that was designed and is manufactured in Canada by Bridgeburg Golf. This new addition to the golf cart arena is compact, quiet, affordable and easy to operate. Not by coincidence the name was chosen because its unique design resembles a three-wheel motorcycle “chopper”. But that’s where the comparison ends.
The Turf Chopper definitely speeds up the game because golfers that ride directly to their ball, spend much less time searching, and when the ball is found, they have all their clubs with them instead of on a cart halfway across the fairway.
Speeding up the game gives everyone the option of playing more holes in less time, and many of the golfers that tested the Turf Chopper said that it was a fun ride.
From the golf course owners’ perspective, speeding up golfers means putting more rounds through the course, and Bridgeburg Golf claims charging costs are shown to be significantly lower, as are cart maintenance and storage expenses.

On the golf course, riders will find that the Turf Chopper is solid, well balanced and very stable; plus it’s great how the parking brake engages when the throttle is released, so there is no roll-back on inclines.
The Turf Chopper has a 600-watt motor that is battery powered and it runs almost silently. It easily goes everywhere the larger carts do and even some places where only the smaller single rider cart can go. The carts have a motorcycle style twist throttle and a forward and reverse button that is located conveniently on the handlebar.

The Turf Chopper also easily converts to a walk-behind cart caddy, for wet days when carts are not allowed off the path. The Turf Chopper’s throttle system allows riders to maintain their desired speed when going downhill, so they experience no run-away cart action.
Weighing a mere 150 pounds without rider and clubs, the cart exerts less weight per square inch than conventional and other single rider carts and leaves no discernable tire tracks. This is a definite plus for greens-keepers and course maintenance
Born out of necessity, the Turf Chopper’s inventor experienced debilitating back pain while playing his favorite game. He loved golf but said walking 18 holes was out of the question and riding in a conventional cart only made matters worse. Being determined and resourceful, he set out to build a cart that would adapt to his needs; after several attempts, the prototype for the first Turf Chopper came to fruition.
Bridgeburg Golf, makers of the Turf Chopper will be a sponsor of the Florida Open For Golfers With Disabilities Disabilities and/or Mobility Challenges, at Kissimmee Bay Country Club in June 2009.
The Turf Chopper has revolutionized the single-rider concept that is beginning to re-shape the industry, and priced around $1600, it offers a cart thats price-point is far below many current options available. Turf Choppers are available in several colors, yes ladies, including pink. OverSpin Putters by Tadd Moore

The OverSpin design gives you the advantage of a true and consistent roll, a softer feel and great balance. Traditional putters can cause the ball to skid or hop a few inches or more producing inconsistent results. Overspin’s design produces immediate topspin using the 2/5 factor on the ball to produce a straight and true roll with every putt! The result is a putter that starts the ball rolling faster, straighter and offers unparalleled feel.
The OverSpin putter is designed so the point of impact where the putter meets the ball just above center, effortlessly producing “an instant roll, eliminating skidding.”
In general, a putt is more susceptible to stray off-target during the skid, while a rolling putt will hold its intended line and improve the chances of going in the hole, additionally, because the ball comes off the face straighter and with more forward roll it is easier to control distance, one of the leading factors in three-putting.
MSRP for OverSpin Answer model is $145, Mallet Model is $160. Also available in Belly-Putters and Left handed models. To purchase online visit www.totalgolfmarketing.com
