Trump
International Golf Club in West Palm Beach is being heralded
by Florida Golf Magazine as the 2010 Editor’s Choice for
Florida’s Best Golf Course. Originally built in 1997-99,
Trump International is by no means old, yet it is already very
much steeped in tradition.
World renowned
Golf Course Designer, Jim Fazio worked tirelessly while building
it to make sure that it exemplified what he called “a pure
golf experience” and it shows. Its spectacular design features
make it extremely challenging, yet it can arguably be called
the state’s most enjoyable course to play.
Dr. Gary Wiren,
PhD, Sr. Director of Instruction for all Trump Golf Properties
graciously agreed when we asked him to take Florida Golf Magazine
on a tour of the newest nine of the 27 holes at his home course.
It had been four long and well-traveled years since we last visited
the prestigious ultra-private golf club down in West Palm Beach,
Florida and we had forgotten just how beautiful of a place it
really is.
As Dr. Wiren
took us on the much anticipated tour of the ‘New Nine’
as it is called at Trump International, it became evident that
Jim had once again put his heart and soul into his work. Though
unique, in its own right, the ‘New Nine’ at Trump International
is every bit as challenging as the original 18 holes.
Jim Fazio is
a true master artisan of golf course design. Back in the 60s,
he and his younger brother Tom were originally trained in golf
course design and construction by their uncle George Fazio who
was a famed professional golfer. Tom became the most sought after
golf course architect in the world, but he would be the first
to tell you that his big brother Jim is every bit as good as
him.
Trump International
Golf Club in West Pam Beach Florida is a magical place. Robert
Frost said, “We love the things we love for what they are.”
And so it is, just as sure as Jack Nicklaus is the ‘World’s
Greatest Golfer’, and “the King” Arnold Palmer
is the world’s most beloved, so it is also true that Trump
International Golf Club is Florida Golf Magazine’s 2010
Editor’s Choice for ‘Florida’s Best Golf Course’.
